Signal malfunctions led to significant disruption for rail passengers in Kent on Sunday. Severe delays and cancellations affecting services to and from London Victoria commenced just before 06:30 GMT, attributed to a combination of multiple technical faults and scheduled engineering work. Southeastern announced that its services resumed operation at 17:30, but cautioned that disruptions persisted across its network, with the potential for further cancellations on short notice. The line closure impacted various routes, including Dartford, Sevenoaks, Tonbridge, Ashford International, and Dover Priory. Trains operating from Dartford to London Victoria were rerouted to London Cannon Street. The Sevenoaks to London Victoria line was restricted, running only between Sevenoaks and Orpington. Services from Tonbridge concluded at Bromley South, while the Margate line incorporated an additional stop at Swanley. Although Ashford International trains via Paddock Wood continued their normal operation, those from Ashford International via Maidstone East were terminated at Swanley. Southeastern advised passengers that their tickets would be honored on the company’s high-speed services, as well as on the London Underground and London buses, at no additional charge.
