Transport employees have collected £3,000 for a cancer charity, honoring a veteran tram driver who succumbed to the illness. Matthew Orange, 49, had been employed by Supertram in Sheffield since 1996, just two years after the network’s launch in the city. To commemorate his legacy, staff members wore orange attire, serving as a tribute to his surname and a display of solidarity and respect for his nearly 30 years of service. The funds gathered were donated to Macmillan Cancer Support. Sharon Galloway, Supertram’s operations manager, commented: “Matt was a kind, thoughtful, and highly valued member of the driving team, whose unique presence will be missed by all.” Macmillan Cancer Support offers information and assistance to individuals living with cancer and their families. Supertram also stated that Mr. Orange was recognized for his “gentle nature, dedication, and dry sense of humour.”
