Alchemy Technology Services, a software implementation and consultancy firm, has been named the initial tenant for a multi-million pound office development located in Londonderry. The company is scheduled to move into the new Ebrington Plaza building in Derry by spring 2025. Alchemy stated that this relocation represents a multi-million pound investment in the north west region and demonstrates a continued dedication to the local economy. Established in 2018 by John Harkin, Alchemy presently employs approximately 150 individuals in the city and an additional 50 in London. The office premises, situated in the Waterside area of the city, encompass about 62,000 sq m and will function as Alchemy’s new permanent headquarters. Heron Property Ltd developed Ebrington Plaza with the aim of fostering economic regeneration and growth within the north west. John Harkin, Alchemy’s founder, commented, “This new cutting-edge office space will allow us to continue our expansion and to create an exceptional work environment for our employees.” He further elaborated, “The move supports our mission to create a centre of excellence for the transformation of the global insurance industry by attracting and retaining top talent in the north west.” Harkin added, “It reinforces Alchemy’s position both as a leading player in the global insurance industry and an employer of choice in Northern Ireland.” He also stated, “Following the recent opening of our City of London office in the iconic Lloyd’s of London building, we’re confident our new headquarters will play a pivotal role in continuing to expand our customer base.” Concluding his remarks, Harkin said, “It’s a testament to our development as a company over the past six years and to the hard work and dedication of our talent.” Paul Mulholland, the property director for Heron Group, expressed pleasure in welcoming a “thriving local technology business” such as Alchemy to Ebrington Plaza. Mr. Mulholland commented, “Alchemy has established itself as a leading player in its field and Heron Property are excited to deliver best-in-class office accommodation for their growing business.” Foyle MP Colum Eastwood welcomed the announcement, asserting that the move serves as evidence that “Derry is a great place for businesses to grow, and for families to make their home”. Eastwood added, “Today’s announcement is a reflection of our strategic location, our talent, and our incredible people.”
