Two individuals apprehended following an unauthorized Halloween rave held in a warehouse have been released on bail. This unsanctioned music gathering commenced on Saturday evening within a vacant Wickes building off Winterstoke Road in Ashton, Bristol, and concluded at 10:00 GMT on Sunday. Avon and Somerset Police reported that the event reached a peak attendance of between 600 and 1,000 people. The pair were initially taken into custody on suspicion of causing a public nuisance. Officers intercepted two vehicles departing the area and confiscated the sound equipment found onboard. Residents in the nearby districts of Ashton, Bedminster, and Southville stated they had been kept awake throughout the night by the noise. The force had previously indicated it did not possess the necessary officer numbers to bring the event to an earlier close. Insp Gareth Pike commented: “Residents living close by are understandably angry by the disturbance this unlicensed music event has caused. We’re sorry for the impact it has had on them and we share their frustrations.” Insp Pike further added that officers encountered “unacceptable hospitality,” as bottles were thrown at them.
