Charges have been brought against two men, both aged 62, following damage to an Ultra Low Emission Zone (Ulez) camera in Sidcup. Authorities have stated that these incidents are not being linked. Police were dispatched to reports of an explosion on Willersley Avenue, Sidcup, at approximately 18:45 on December 6, 2023. One of the individuals faces charges for causing an explosion likely to endanger life or cause serious injury to property, in addition to three counts of possessing a prohibited weapon. He is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ court on November 11. The second man has been charged with criminal damage and using a false plate whilst driving. His court appearance is set for November 27 at Bromley Magistrates’ Court. The investigation into the explosion was conducted by officers from the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command. Det Ch Supt Trevor Lawry, who oversees local policing in the Bexley area, commented: “We know that this incident caused much concern locally at the time.” He further added: “Local officers have continued to support the investigation team as they have diligently gone about gathering evidence in this case, working closely with the CPS, which has led to these charges being brought.”
