An operation targeting nuisance drivers in Cleethorpes has resulted in the confiscation of two vehicles and the issuance of warnings to nine other motorists. This collaborative initiative, involving North East Lincolnshire Council and Humberside Police, has been ongoing for the past three months at the town’s boating lake. Law enforcement officials have been utilizing specific powers that enable officers to impound vehicles operated in a manner that causes alarm, distress, or annoyance. Insp Pete Musgrave stated: “We absolutely will not tolerate anyone who uses a motor vehicle antisocially, putting others at risk and causing a public nuisance.” Uniformed police have been patrolling the area and collaborating with the council’s CCTV operatives, who have been monitoring their system and relaying information to officers on site. Measures implemented during Operation Snap included: Councillor Ron Shepherd, the portfolio holder for safer and stronger communities, characterized the outcomes as “excellent.” He further commented: “The council operates a very strong zero-tolerance policy for law-breakers and this is the epitome of that in action. If you’re found to be disrupting the community, however that may be, you will be reprimanded.”
