An educator has been sentenced to prison for sexually touching a teenager while she was a student at his school. The individual, now an adult, reported the incidents to law enforcement years later, stating a belief of being groomed by Craig Hill during her attendance at Hall Park Academy in Eastwood, Nottinghamshire. In August, Hill, aged 46, residing at Mornington Crescent in Nuthall, admitted guilt to two charges of sexual activity with a minor and one charge of causing or inciting a minor to engage in sexual activity by an individual in a position of trust. He was sentenced to 32 months in prison and issued a five-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order during his appearance at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday. Testimony presented in court indicated that the girl initially approached Hill due to difficulties with her academic studies. Additional tutoring was subsequently provided, which resulted in sexual encounters occurring outside of regular class times and within a school cupboard. While delivering the sentence, Judge Stuart Rafferty stated that Hill ought to have recognized any feelings emanating from the girl. The judge remarked: “If you thought that was happening, or there was a risk of it happening, all you had to do was kindly and firmly show her the door.” He continued, “Then report to your colleagues that things had become uncomfortable and you were concerned for your position.” Judge Rafferty concluded, “The fact you did not do this speaks volumes.” He added, “Every day for her and everything she does is tainted by what happened with you.” and “But of course you didn’t think about that at all”.
