Nine individuals were apprehended subsequent to reports of tragedy chanting during Sunday’s Premier League fixture contested by Liverpool and Manchester City. Merseyside Police confirmed that these nine males, ranging in age from 19 to 57 and originating from Greater Manchester, Cheshire, and Lancashire, were taken into custody at Anfield Stadium. Police further reported that one of the individuals, a 28-year-old man, was also taken into custody on suspicion of assault. Additionally, a 19-year-old man from Medlar-with-Wesham in Lancashire has been formally accused of a public order offence, specifically tragedy chanting, under the provisions of the 1991 Football Offences Act.
