Elijah Adebayo, who scored against Swansea City, has expressed that Luton Town has not exhibited adequate “desire, passion and running” in the early stages of the season to perform effectively in the Championship. The forward’s goal against Swansea City on Saturday marked his second in two matches, securing a point for his team. However, he subsequently voiced criticism regarding both his individual performance and the team’s overall display thus far. Speaking to BBC Three Counties Radio, he stated: “It’s been a slow start to the season for me and everyone can see that, but we’re pulling together and know that this league isn’t a stroll in the park.” He further elaborated on the league’s nature, adding: “It’s a very difficult league. Having been relegated from the Premier League last season we are not going to come here and steamroll teams. No team will roll over and let us do what we want.” Adebayo emphasized the necessity for effort, stating: “We have to fight and show all those things we speak about – desire, passion and running in order to get a platform in the game. For large parts of the season we may not have done that to the capabilities we know we can.” He concluded by highlighting the path forward: “The results haven’t gone our way and it’s about getting back to basics and building a platform to be able to get those three points and put in a good performance for the fans.”
