Curtis Jones has stated that his inclusion in the most recent senior England squad arrives at a “perfect time,” attributing it to his strong performance this season under manager Arne Slot. The 23-year-old, who recovered from a muscle injury in September, has since played in every Premier League game for Liverpool. His manager also described him as “outstanding” following Jones’ recent first-time fatherhood. Prior to the Three Lions’ Nations League matches against Greece and the Republic of Ireland, Jones remarked, “Everyone is saying I am on form, so, I think it is a perfect time.” He added, “I have played games. I am fit and the rhythm I have got from playing game after game… I have got all of that.” Jones further emphasized the significance of the call-up, stating, “I am trying to prove to everybody that I am the player I say that I am and the player that I have always been from a kid. I think this call up is huge.” With nearly 100 Premier League appearances, Jones expressed his belief that he has earned this chance for his senior England debut, having been included in two prior squads. He commented, “I think the form at the club is the important thing and this call-up only comes with how hard I am doing things at the club.” Jones also noted his maturity and experience, stating, “I am not a young lad anymore. I have had the experience of Champions League and Premier League games.” He concluded by expressing his ambition: “I have been around now for long enough to learn that I want to be inside that team. I want to keep my place and keep my shirt by scoring goals and assists and I feel I am on the right path.”
