Dundee is seeking a victory after a disappointing week that saw two defeats, bringing their total to six losses in seven matches. With only one win in their last nine outings, this period may not be ideal for Tony Docherty to rekindle his rivalry with former colleague Derek McInnes. The Kilmarnock boss, McInnes, is also currently being mentioned as a potential candidate for a return to Rangers if the Ibrox club decides to dismiss Philippe Clement. The two managers previously collaborated at Rugby Park and Aberdeen, and their opposing teams have engaged in several eventful contests over the past 18 months. However, despite the narrow margins separating their sides, including Kilmarnock’s dramatic three-goal comeback to secure a 3-2 win at Dens Park last month, Docherty has yet to achieve a victory over McInnes in six attempts. Ending Kilmarnock’s four-game unbeaten run at Dens Park—and their six-game unbeaten streak against Dundee overall—could provide the necessary boost for the Dark Blues. Dundee has been without the influential creative presence of Luke McCowan since the midfielder’s transfer to Celtic in August. Nevertheless, their primary issue this season has often been their inability to hold onto leads rather than a lack of goal-scoring. This problem was evident not only against Kilmarnock in early October but also in their match against St Johnstone this past weekend. The Ayrshire team recently secured a valuable away win against Hearts in midweek and is expected to once again test Docherty’s squad.
