Robert Lewandowski became the third player in history to achieve 100 Champions League goals as Barcelona triumphed over Brest with a commanding performance. Only Cristiano Ronaldo, with 141 goals, and Lionel Messi, with 129 goals, have scored more frequently than the 36-year-old in Europe’s premier club competition. Lewandowski’s 100th goal was converted from the penalty spot in the 10th minute, following an incident where Brest goalkeeper Marco Bizot fouled the Poland striker from behind. Dani Olmo netted his inaugural Champions League goal for Barcelona, providing the team with a more comfortable lead. His excellent first touch allowed him to move past Brendan Chardonnet before he slotted the ball under Bizot, extending the score to 2-0. Lewandowski concluded Barcelona’s impressive display by scoring his second goal of the match—and 101st in the competition—effortlessly placing the ball into the bottom corner after executing a superb spin in the penalty area. The La Liga leaders maintained significant control of the ball throughout the game, holding 77% of possession and preventing the French side from registering any shots on target. Olmo had another promising opportunity to score in the second half, but Brest captain Chardonnet made an outstanding clearance off the goal line. In a rare offensive move, Brest found the back of the net when Mathias Pereira Lage drilled the ball past Inaki Pena, but the goal was quickly disallowed for offside. Substitute Pablo Torre had a chance to secure the three points with five minutes remaining, but his attempt went wide of the post. Barcelona has climbed to second place in the league phase table after winning four of their five matches, while Brest has fallen to eighth.
