The discussion surrounding Erik ten Hag’s role as manager of Manchester United persists following the team’s loss to West Ham on Sunday. Nigel Reo-Coker, a former Premier League midfielder, believes that “time has run out” for the Manchester United boss and that the club is “just waiting to see who the best option is now” for his successor. Speaking on the BBC Radio 5 Live Football Daily podcast, Reo-Coker elaborated on the club’s predicament: “They have to think about whether they get a manager in to fill the gap again or are they going to find the right manager for the long-term plan.” He concluded by stating, “That is the big decision because in my opinion the Erik ten Hag era is over.” Paul Robinson, an ex-top-flight goalkeeper, concurred with Reo-Coker’s assessment, adding: “I have to agree. I was surprised that he kept his job at the start of the season and in our early predictions I said I would be surprised if he makes Christmas. I still stand by that.” Robinson further suggested that if any of Europe’s other major clubs – such as Juventus, Bayern Munich, or AC Milan – found themselves 14th in their respective leagues, their manager would be dismissed or certainly not afforded the same level of leeway as Ten Hag.
