Former England winger Aaron Lennon has expressed his belief that Ruben Amorim, the incoming manager for Manchester United, will introduce his favoured 3-4-3 system right from the beginning of his tenure at Old Trafford. Amorim consistently employed this three-at-the-back formation during his time managing in Portugal, though concerns have been raised about the current Manchester United squad’s suitability for a stylistic shift, given it was constructed for Erik ten Hag. Speaking to Planet Premier League, Lennon remarked, “I was one of those old school type of wingers and I’d be more than comfortable playing as a wing back in a 3-4-3.” He continued by outlining his expectation for Amorim’s player choices: “I do believe he’ll play the likes of Luke Shaw, who is obviously back into training, and [Diogo] Dalot. “I think he’ll play full-backs in those positions and then utilise the three up top, whether it be [Bruno] Fernandes, [Alejandro] Garnacho, ]Marcus] Rashford, [rasmus] Hojlund, whichever he goes with. “I think he’ll go more solid, especially at the beginning.”
