The BBC received multiple accolades at a prominent television awards event held in Belfast. Specifically, BBC News NI garnered three awards at the Royal Television Society NI Awards. BBC Newsline was honored in the News Coverage category for its reporting on the Lough Neagh crisis. Concurrently, BBC Spotlight NI secured the Current Affairs award for “Blood on the Dance Floor,” a program investigating the unresolved murder of Darren Bradshaw, a police officer killed in a pioneering gay bar. Additionally, BBC Northern Ireland’s “The Secret Army” earned the Documentary-Single award for its broadcast that unveiled a previously lost documentary, which had exposed the IRA before disappearing for decades. The awards ceremony was conducted at Titanic Belfast on Thursday evening. Prizes were also distributed across various other categories, such as current affairs, drama, and entertainment. The drama “The Woman in the Wall” received three awards, with Ruth Wilson and Daryl McCormack recognized as Best Actors, and David Holmes and Brian Irvine awarded for Original Music Score Drama. “Blue Lights” also secured two awards. Other BBC NI winners included “Once Upon a Time In Northern Ireland” and “Hunting the Catfish Crime Gang.” Separately, the Brian Waddell Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Industry was presented to television presenter Pamela Ballantine.
