A Scout leader, Nicky Taylor of Flitwick Scout Group, who has dedicated approximately 50 years to volunteering, is slated to be honored with one of the organization’s most prestigious awards. She was notified via a letter on Tuesday from chief scout Dwayne Fields that she will be presented with the Silver Wolf award at an event scheduled for Windsor Castle in April 2025. The Scouts organization stated that this medal is “only awarded for service of a most exceptional nature”. Mrs. Taylor, who became a member of the organization at the age of 16, commented: “It’s quite a surprise, a really pleasant surprise. It wasn’t expected, so I was delighted.” Typically, the Silver Wolf is bestowed upon individuals who have previously earned a Silver Acorn, an accolade recognizing 20 years of service, and is infrequently presented to those with under 30 years within the organization. The Scout leader mentioned that since her involvement began, she has “only taken a few breaks for things like college”. Currently, she manages a Beaver colony and a Cub pack, in addition to serving as the deputy leader for her Scout group. During 2023, she was designated as one of the 500 Coronation Champions and received an invitation to the coronation concert held at Windsor Castle.
