Leicester Tigers have secured Australian forward Jed Holloway on a short-term contract. Holloway, who is capable of playing as a lock or flanker, is set to join the club in anticipation of a demanding December schedule of fixtures. The 32-year-old, versatile as a lock or flanker, possesses 12 Test caps for the Wallabies, with his most recent international appearance occurring in July 2023. Holloway’s most recent club experience was with the Super Rugby team New South Wales Waratahs, for whom he played over 100 matches. He is scheduled to join the Major League Rugby franchise San Diego Legion in 2025. Holloway expressed considerable excitement regarding his upcoming tenure with the Tigers for the “next couple of months”. Leicester is scheduled to play Sale away on Saturday upon the resumption of the Premiership season, followed by two Champions Cup group stage matches within six days against Bordeaux Begles and Sharks. Leicester head coach Michael Cheika stated, “Coming out of the international window, we obviously have a few guys missing in that lock, back-row role and we have big games coming up in the league. Europe games as well.” He further added, “Jed’s got the qualities in his game that we need, so adding add him to the roster to help with the selection challenges we have is great.” The Tigers have secured victories in five of their initial six Premiership season matches and are currently one point behind early leaders Bath.
