Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been suspended from bowling in competitions organized by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). This suspension follows his participation in only one County Championship match for Surrey during the previous season. The 37-year-old cricketer’s bowling action came under scrutiny during Surrey’s September loss to Somerset. This particular game was his sole appearance for the county, which subsequently secured its third consecutive County Championship title. An independent assessment determined that his bowling action surpassed the 15-degree limit stipulated by ECB regulations. In a statement, the ECB declared, “Shakib is ineligible to bowl in ECB competitions until he has passed an independent re-assessment of his bowling action.” Shakib joined Surrey specifically for their crucial fixture against title contenders Somerset, where he claimed nine wickets over both innings. He was dismissed for 12 runs in the initial innings and for a duck in the subsequent one. For his national team, Shakib has participated in 71 Test matches, 247 one-day internationals, and 129 T20 internationals, accumulating a total of 14,730 runs and taking 712 wickets. He has not entered into a contract with any English county for the upcoming 2025 season.
