A country park located in Nottinghamshire has called off a Christmas event scheduled for this weekend, citing adverse weather conditions. The National Trust announced that the primary car park at Clumber Park in Worksop would be inaccessible for a three-day period, commencing Thursday. The charity confirmed the cancellation of the park’s Christmas Fayre, originally planned for Saturday and Sunday, due to a “torrential rain forecast.” Additionally, the National Trust 10K run and a second-hand bike sale have also been called off. This decision follows snowfall across the county on Monday night, which resulted in hazardous conditions. Through a social media announcement directed at customers, the National Trust stated that the Cow Pastures field car park would remain shut until Sunday. While the park itself will stay open, only the hardstanding car park will be accessible, and the charity cautioned that visitors “may be turned away.” A spokesperson commented, “Due to the torrential rain forecast for Saturday, we have taken the difficult decision to cancel the Christmas Fayre.” The spokesperson added, “This decision has not been taken lightly, the safety of our people and visitors is our priority.” Furthermore, the spokesperson noted, “We do have a long-term plan in place to develop additional all-weather parking throughout the estate. This will, of course, take time and need extensive funding.” Patrons who had pre-booked tickets to visit Father Christmas on either Saturday or Sunday were informed they would still be granted entry to the park.
