A 92-year-old individual has earned the designation of “Britain’s most loyal customer” due to her consistent weekly visits to the same restaurant over a period of 37 years. Molly Robinson has regularly had lunch at Langley Castle in Northumberland on Thursdays, a tradition she began in 1987. Hailing from Alston in Cumbria, the widow initially frequented the medieval castle alongside her late husband, Jock, where they often stayed overnight. Her preferred lunch order remains consistent: the soup of the day and fish and chips, accompanied by two glasses of champagne. Following her husband’s passing, Mrs. Robinson has primarily continued her visits independently, traveling the half-hour journey from her residence via taxi. She consistently extends an offer of a glass of champagne to the staff, hoping to persuade them to join her company briefly. Eilidh Wise, who serves as a food and beverage assistant and part-time tour guide, characterized Mrs. Robinson as a “VIP.” “We’re not supposed to have favourites but she’s certainly my favourite,” Wise stated. Aiden McGuinness, the food and beverage manager, noted that Mrs. Robinson has been a patron through the tenures of five different managers. “She has made friends with countless visitors over the years and had goodness knows how many chinwags,” McGuinness further remarked. Mrs. Robinson expressed that she “adores” both the castle and its personnel. The nonagenarian’s remaining fish and chips are provided to the local birds. “They’re more or less queuing up for it,” she informed BBC Radio Newcastle.
