An individual aged 92 is scheduled to face trial next year, having been accused of the rape and murder of an elderly woman that occurred 57 years in the past. Louisa Dunne, who was 75 years old, was discovered strangled on the floor of her living room by a neighbour on Brittania Road in Easton, Bristol, on 28 June 1967. Ryland Headley, residing at Clarence Road, Ipswich, received charges from Avon and Somerset Police on Wednesday. This development followed an additional forensic examination of certain evidence. The proceedings for his trial are slated for 16 June, to be presided over by a High Court judge, and are anticipated to extend for a maximum of three weeks. Mr. Headley, who has been held in custody, faces accusations of committing the rape and murder of Ms. Dunne during the period spanning June 26 to 29, 1967. A hearing for plea and trial preparation has been scheduled for 14 February. No request for bail was submitted.
