A nuclear bunker constructed in the 1950s, designed to accommodate three individuals, is scheduled to be sold at auction later this month. This Royal Observer Corp (ROC) bunker, situated on New Road in Badsworth, Pontefract, is one of over 1,500 monitoring posts established to safeguard volunteers who would have measured blast waves and radioactive fallout in the event of an attack. The current owner has restored the bunker to its original condition. It was originally provisioned with enough food and water for 14 days, along with landline and radio communication capabilities. SDL Property Auctions will offer the bunker for sale on 21 November, with a guide price estimated between £15,000 and £20,000. The bunker features direct road access, a fence, a gate, and its own plot of land. It previously appeared on the Channel 4 property program George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces. Andrew Parker, an auctioneer and partner at SDL Property Auctions, stated: “There are only a handful of ROC nuclear bunkers left in the country so to have this lot for sale in our auction is quite unusual.” He further noted: “This is only the fourth time we have had a bunker for sale, and the previous three that we have sold generated a lot of interest, and we’re confident this lot will do the same.“Some of the interested parties are simply curious to see what the inside of a nuclear bunker looks like, however, many are genuinely considering purchasing to secure their own piece of history.”” Post navigation Jurgen Klopp’s Former £4.25m Residence Becomes Rightmove’s Most-Viewed Listing Wolverhampton Council Allocates £1.2M to Combat Damp and Mould
