A 16-year-old male has passed away in hospital four days after being involved in a collision with a taxi in Rutherglen. The teenager was transported to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow subsequent to being struck by a black Mercedes Vito on Main Street around 16:10 on Tuesday. His death, attributed to the injuries sustained, occurred on Saturday, as confirmed by Police Scotland. A 58-year-old man was taken into custody in connection with a road traffic offence, but was subsequently released while further inquiries are conducted. Police have issued an appeal for any individuals who were driving in the vicinity at the time and may possess dashcam footage to come forward. Sgt Gemma Blackadder stated: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the teenager who died at this terrible time. Inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.
